BE SAFE, BE SECURE

Advice for Horringer & Ickworth villagers

ADVICE FROM YOUR LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Did you know that in two-thirds of burglaries the thieves do not break in? They just walk in – through an unlocked door or window. Do not leave expensive purchases visible in your home (or in your car) for all to see, and keep doors locked!

New Scams

Some people receive calls telling them that they are in arrears with their BT telephone bill and asking for payment by credit card over the phone. This is a scam. If you want to check then wait half an hour and then ring the number on your normal bill.

AirTracker Security Markings

Although Suffolk Constabulary does not endorse specific security products, in the current climate, vehicle crime is increasing and the need for security has never been higher.  ‘AirTracker’, a Midlands- based company specialising in security decal graphics for vehicles, now provides a product. Vehicles fitted with their rooftop product are further safeguarded in addition to existing security devices that may be used.  It is a fact that although locks, wheel clamps and other devices offer resistance to a would-be thief, these vehicles still go missing. Their products are specifically aimed at owners of caravans, motor homes, horseboxes, vans and trucks.  It is a simple system and means that from CCTV and Police helicopters, stolen vehicles can be located quickly and returned to the rightful owner.  Airtracker claim that the product is made from a durable, difficult to remove, highly reflective and visible material.
